The main focus of my art practice is on sculptural textiles and mixed media pieces inspired by the landscape, history and folklore of both Yorkshire and the Orkney islands using natural dyes, found objects, print and paint.
I hold a Master's degree in Knitted Textile Design from the University of Huddersfield and a PhD from the University of Leeds, where I developed novel cleaning technologies. Over the past 20 years, I have also been actively involved in delivering creative workshops within the community, fostering artistic expression and engagement.
My artistic journey has often involved collaborating with cultural and creative partners, community groups, councils, schools, and universities. Through these partnerships, I have used art and textiles as tools to promote well-being, creativity, learning and enriching the lives of participants.
